Week 3 - Communicate a Noun - 100 Lines

CRAFT
I used black ink and plain white paper. I was only allowed to use 100 strokes for each of the five different objects I had to draw, one of which had to be some kind of drinking vessel. I used horizontal, vertical, and diagonal lines to create the forms of these objects.

COMPOSITION
My drinking vessel is a wine glass. My next drawing is a kleenex box. The third one is a circular metal dish that I keep on my desk that holds coins, bobby pins, paper clips, and other miscellaneous items. The fourth one is a section of the paper chain I have hanging up in my dorm room that counts down the days until my 21st birthday. The last drawing is the lamp by my bed.

CONCEPT
Using exactly 100 strokes was not easy. Many times, I found myself simply sketching the outline of the objects rather than using lines to create the inside of the form. It was a hard habit to break! A few times I lost count, which was pretty frustrating because I had to start over!
